New Seed Extract PCR (SE-PCR) test for lettuce |
We are introducing a new real-time PCR to test the presence or absence of Lettuce mosaic virus (LMV) on seeds of lettuce. This test will replace the seed extract ELISA test as of July 1, 2025. This test gives no indication of whether or not the virus is infectious. In case of a positive result, a new sample can be sent in to perform a seedling ELISA test. |

Amendment of various Technical Questionnaires (TQ's) |
Together with UPOV and CPVO, we are working on harmonized TQ’s. We aim to align the TQ’s as closely as possible with those of the CPVO, according to the latest CPVO protocols.
Some have already been updated in recent weeks, and the others will follow soon. This concerns the following crops: chinese cabbage, kale, swede, pepper, tomato, melon, spinach, squash, lettuce, cucumber and asparagus.
